Surat Super Yarn Park Ltd to expand yarn production capacity
Surat Super Yarn Park Ltd is planning to expand its texturised yarn production capacity from 140,000 tpa to 151000 tpa. Its expansion programme is being implemented by Nakoda Textiles and is sponsored by government for integrated textile parks. The park is eligible for Rs.400 million of which Rs.240 million had been already invested in the project and is overseen by IL&FS as management consultant.SIMA sets up PSG-Textile Training Institute
To provide better technical trained personnel, SIMA (South Indian Mills Association) has joined up with PSG School of Technology to set up a textile training institute. Initially, the institute will launch 2 year certificate courses later courses approved by NCVT. It also has plans to make it as a ‘centre of excellence’. Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) has donated the entire range of spinning machinery and PSG Insitute of Technology has provided land.KSIDC plans textile park at Kanjikode
Kerala State Industrial Development Corp has invited ‘expression of interest’ bids to set up an integrated textile park in Kanjikode near Palakkad in Kerala. Kinfra has acquired around 160 acres of land here and 60 acres of it will be allotted to textile industries to set up technical textiles, garment manufacturing, weaving etc., Kinfra will provide basic infrastructure facilities and may pick up equity in the ventures upto 26% or the value of land will be converted to equity. It may be noted, Kinfra’s textile center at Taliparamba in Kannur district is ready for inauguration and has 94.8 acres is ready for allotment to textile units.Shree Durga Syntex to expand its yarn unit at Jolva in Palsana
Shree Durga Syntex Pvt Ltd to expand its yarn unit at Jolva village in Palsana in Surat district of Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 1500 million. The project involves setting up of manufacturing facilities to produce expanding production capacity of Fully Drawn yarn from 40 MTPD to 300MTPD and capacity of captive power generation unit from 3.2 MW to 12.25 MW. Nakoda Textile Industries is expanding its texturising capacity from existing level of 1070 metric tones per annum (MTPA) to 28,800 MTPA at its Textile Park. The texturising plant will go fully operational by September 2009. During May 2009, the company received fresh orders for fully drawn yarn (FDY) to the tune of 1850 metric tones (MT) amounting to around Rs 166.5 million.NITRA to promote protective textiles
Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) based in Ghaziabad is to become the centre of excellence (CoE) for promoting protective textiles in the country. Protective clothing including garments and accessories intended to protect people from hazardous materials come under the protective textiles category. Textile News - Industry Overview
GAIL has cut supply to Gujarat Gas co and Gujarat Gas has inturn supply of gas to Surat textile units. Over 300 units have been affected as daily contracted quantity has been reduced by 34%. Any additional quantity has to be purchased at double the price. This move has upset textile unit owners and with current slow-demand many feel this move is uncalled for.
