New Handloom cluster to get government funds

Four new handloom clusters are to come up in the state of Tamil Nadu. The identified cluster villages in district are Pallavar and Varadaraja in Kanchipuram district , Arni in Thiruvannamalai district and Rasipuram in Thiruchengode in Salem district of Tamil Nadu. The state government has earmarked funds for the clusters and it awaits central government funding to the tune of Rs. 4.57 million. It may be noted, the central ministry of textiles is also planning to set up a zari and embroidery craft clusterin Kulithalai in Karur district of Tamil Nadu.

The funds will be used to mechanization of the workplace, besides meeting the housing needs of weavers.
